Description

The lesson is taken from upper intermediate face to face coursebook unit 5 page 42 and 43.The topic of the is That smells nice! .My lesson well starts with a discussion about perfume and aftershave.Then they will have new vocabulary and they will find their definitions on the wall after that students will look at to five pictures of famous characters and say if they know them or not. The next activity is fill in the gap and then students will listen to the record and discuss some points and after that they will have an active about homophones and try to choose the right word

Main Aims

  • To provide students with listening practice of specific information using a text about The history of perfume in a context of a lecture on the history of perfume

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will practice their writing skill when they write about the perfume

Procedure

lead in (6-8 minutes) • Help student to think and engage with the topic

Students will read three questions about perfume and aftershave and they will have a group discussion about the questions and after the group discussion they will have a whole class discussion

Pre-Reading (5-8 minutes) • To teach students new vocabulary

Students will have seven sentences each sentence has a highlighted word. And they have to go around the class and find the right definition to the highlighted word and write it down on their notes book.after this part they will have drilling practises on the new vocabulary..

Pre-Reading (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with specific information which prepare them for the next stage

Students will look at five different pictures of famous characters on the whiteboard and the have to match them with their names

While-Reading #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with practice of reading for specific information

Students have to complete five sentences with the right name of one of the five famous character individual and after that the will check their answers in pairs

Post-Listening (5-7 minutes) • to raise the students awareness of homophones

I will right two words on the whiteboard that have the same sound. but have different spelling and meaning and I will explain what are the homophones then I will write two words each time and students will listen to a sentence and they have to choose the correct word. students will work in two groups and each time one o student of the group will choose the word by slamming the board

Free Practice (8-12 minutes) • give the students the space to practice the language

Students will work in groups of three they will try to create a perfume or aftershave and they have to discuses seven points before start designing the product after they finish they will present t it and try to convince the others to buy it
