Procedure

Pre-teach listening (5-8 minutes) • To lead the students in and engage them

-T pastes the Pronto Cafe P27 on the board and asks the question (What is her job) and T refers to the people in the photo to ask: Who are they? -T elicits the words: shop assistant and customer -T sets a reaistic context from the cafe of Movempic hotel - T elicits some questions and answers to be said in the cafe ( Can I have a cup of coffe, please?) (what can the shop assistant answer?) ( yes, of course!)

listening for details (5-7 minutes) • to find specific details

- T gives every S the price list of Cafe Pronto with a question in the bottom of the paper (How much does each customer spend?) The paper is folded, so the Ss can't see the question in this stage -T gives clear instructions and ICQs ex. Listen and tick what the customers order on the price list, but don't open, don't look. Should we open? No Should we listen or read? listen - T asks Ss to check in pairs. - T checks the answer with the WC -Answer key: 2 capuccinos and a croissant - T might deal with the 2 conversations separately, play conversation 1 , chech the answers with the whole class, then repeat the procedure for conversation 2.

Listening again for more specific details (2-3 minutes) • to focus on more details

- T asks Ss to open the folded part of the paper and answer the question. - T plays the recording again. - Ss listen and write the answers -T checks with the WC -Answer key: 5.85 (pounds) 3.75 (pounds)

post-listening (7-10 minutes) • To practise it in the real world

- T asks some CCQs ex. Who says 'can I help you the customer or the assistant? the assistant. Who say ' a croissant please, the customer or the assistant? the customer -T gives the student fill in the gap exercise. - T asks Ss to work in pairs. - T checks the answers with the WC - T highlights the differences between some new wrds and expressions - T elicits some new words or expressions from Ss ex. take away or go, Sure or of course

listen and practice (5-7 minutes) • to engage and involve the students in the conversation

- T ask students to listen to the recording of exercise 9. - T plays the recording again and pause after each sentence for students to repeat chorally and individually. -T asks some CCQs: Are they at home or in a café? In a café. Does the customer say "please" or not? Yes. Will he eat in or take away? Eat in.

productive skill (5-8 minutes) • to practise the TL

- T names the the Ss (As the assistant and Bs the customer) - T asks Ss( A&B) to work in pairs to practise the conversation in exercise 9 - After Ss have practised it a few times, T asks them to change roles - T monitors and corrects their mistakes.

Free practice (4-5 minutes) • To practise the function

- T puts the table in the middle of the class - T puts food and drinks on the table with some copies of the price list - T asks half of the Ss to go around the table and work as shop assistants. Then she asks the other half to be the customers. - T asks students to feel free order whatever they like to, using the functional words and expressions they already learned in the previous steps. - in 2 minutes the T asks students to change the roles.
