Description

In this lesson, SS will learn speaking by learning Vocabulary and pronunciation, particularly stress and intonation.SS will read the story about Babur Ali and then practice their pronunciation and vocabulary.

Materials

Abc Exercise Book

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about About Babur Ali's life and his teaching style in the context of "A Really Good Job".

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accurate speaking practice via disscussing the Babur Ali's story.

Procedure

Warmer, introducing the topic and work some vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • To work on some vocabulary and introduce Babur Ali.

Begin by showing the vocabulary presentation with the projector and talk about the words to make sure SS learned the words before starting to read the story.

Introducing Babur Ali (3-5 minutes) • To give information before reading.

In this part, I will introduce Babur Ali by showing the pictures of him, his school and the map of his country. I will elicit what the class can understand from the information available in the pictures.Then I will ask them to complete exercise 1 and I will explain that they just need to give their opinions.

Reading and doing exercises 2 and 3 in pairs. (10-15 minutes) • To clarify whether the students understood the information in paragraphs 1 and 2 on page 19.

Before asking them to read, i will demonstrate the first question in test 2. Then I will ask them to read the first paragraph on page 19, then answer Exercise 2 in pairs. Then we will work together go over and correct the answers. SS will then read the second paragraph on page 19 and answer the questions in exercise 3. Finally we will go over the answers to exercise 3 as a class.

Reading "Babur's ambitions" and completing Exercises 4 and 5 (10-13 minutes) • Check the students speaking skills, especially pronunciation and intonation.

I will ask SS read the paragraph, "Babur's ambitions" and then I will use the WB to list what we have learned about Babur, using feedback from the class. I will then use the WB to do an example question for Exercise 4 before asking the class to complete the exercise in pairs. I will use the OHP to go through the answers. I will then demonstrate stress and intonation using the correct answers for exercise 4 on the OHP. Finally, I will ask the students to revisit Exercise 1 in PW, this time answering with the information they have learned from Babur's story.

Roleplay (10-13 minutes) • Working on vocabulay and pronouciation.

I will demonstrate Exercise 5 by doing one example question for SS. SS will then complete the questions and answers in pairs. I will then ask two confident students to come to the front of the class and roleplay the exercise, one being nominated the journalist and the other the student. I will then ask the remaining pairs to repeat the roleplay with each other. I will monitor the pairings and provide feedback on intonation and pronunciation.
