Description

In this lesson, SS will learn some adjectives by engaging them in two vocabulary building activates, developing listening skills by listening for a specific information from a blog about Annalisa, who is Italian, studies in London. SS will also learn how to form questions by working in pairs, asking and answering, to complete questions about Annalisa.

Main Aims

  • • To accommodate students with detailed listening practice from a blog that includes information about Annalisa.

Subsidiary Aims

  • • To accommodate SS with explanation and practise of vocabulary including: (expensive, interesting, sunny) in the activities of matching adjectives with nouns and completing the sentences with suitable adjectives.

Procedure

Stage 1 (Lead In) (3-5 minutes) • To introduce the lesson and make the context of the lesson interesting for the SS

Greet students and have a little chat with them to warm up. Project picture of London, ask students to look at it and elicit which places they already know and other famous places in London that they know. Elicit what they know and feel about London: big, expensive, sunny..etc. How do you feel about London? What do you know about London? do you want to go to London?

Stage 2 (Match Vocab & Complete sentences with suitable adjectives) (13-15 minutes) • To learn how to describe things.

- Project Vocabulary Matching Activity (adjectives in yellow cards with the nouns in yellow). - Ask student what they think about some of the pictures -Ask the first 6 students in line to grab the card which will be in yellow under their table and try to match it with the nouns on the board). - - Ask the second 6 students in line to grab the card which will be in blue under their table and try to match it with the nouns on the board). - Check answers correct if there any mistakes and ask students if they can match one adjective with more than one noun. - - Ask SS to try to answer 2 examples on the board. - Pass out exercise 2 and ask SS to work in pairs to answer it. - After they finish. Ask Pairs to compare their answers with other pairs. - Teacher monitor then request FB from the SS.

Stage 3 (True or False Listening activity) (13-15 minutes) • To develop SS listening skills for a specific information.

Projection of Annalisa and the underground Teacher introduces Annalisa to students then focuses their attention on the underground picture and asks students what they think it is? Or what its name? -Pass out exercise 3 and ask students to read the statements about Annalisa. -Ask SS to listen and decide if the statements True or False and correct the false ones. -Play 2 Times 3 if necessary. -Put SS in groups to compare their answers while T monitors them. -Request FB from SS.

Stage 4 (ask and answer to complete questions ) (8-10 minutes) • To learn how to form questions

- Ask students questions about Annalisa. Is Annalisa from London? What does Annalisa do in London? Why is Annalisa in London? Ask students to look at Annalisa's picture and think about questions. - Pass out exercise 4 and ask SS to complete it and ask and answer questions about Annalisa in pairs. -T monitors and provide FB on students language use by correcting them
