Description

This lesson is about personal possessions, students will learn some vocabulary related to the topic, and they will be exposed to infinitive of purpose, getting them to participate through communicative activities to develop their ability through guided discovery in which they will practice the use of infinitive of purpose in a controlled activity.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the target language ( infinitive of purpose )

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will recognize and pronounce the \θ\ and \t\.sound accuratly.

Procedure

Lead in (6 minutes) • To get students attention, and arouse their interest in the topic.

I open my bag and get some items out of it, then ask the students to look in their bags and try to find something to talk about.

Controlled activity (10 minutes) • To get the students to be energetic,and help them speak more freely about thier personal possession.

Ask students to look at the pictues (A_K) and match them with the correct words, next, I ask the students which of those things are important to them, and why? In pairs I asked them to discribe one of their favourite things.What is it? How long s/he has it? Where did s/he get it? Why is it important to him / her?

Controlled activity (5 minutes) • Eliciting the targrt language through showing pictures and realia.

Holding a marker in my hand, I present the target language. - I use a marker to write on the board. - I have some money to buy a jacket. - I Show students some pictures to encourage them to make sentences about infinitive of purpose.

Controlled Practice (5 minutes) • To reinforce the use of the target language.

Student will underline the infinitive of purpose.

controlled activity ( mingling ) (7 minutes) • To give students the opportunity to practice the target language ( infinitive of purpose )

in pairs students will match the second half of the sentence with the first

Controlled Practice (5 minutes) • To reinfroce the use of the target language.

Students will complete the sentence using infinitive of purpose of their own

Controlled activity (7 minutes) • Help the students diffrenciate between the two sounds / ð / and / θ / through listening to recording and through playing a game.

I write the sounds / ð / and / θ / on the right and left side of the board, students stand in the middle of the class forming a queue, they jump to the right side when they hear a word which contains the sound / ð / and they jump to the left side when they hear a word consists of the sound / θ / anyone who makes a mistake will get out of the game.
