Description

In this lesson, students learn about the passive with agent based on a reading text about Oscar and raspberries. The lesson starts with a discussion about films, I will use pictures to clarify the meaning of new vocabulary as a pre-teaching , the lesson contains varieties of controlled and free activities .

  • By the end of the lesson the student will be able to: form a sentence in passive with agent and learn more vocabulary about films and Oscar ceremony.

  • By the end of the lesson students will develop reading sub-skill for specific information .

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to get student talking , to engage students ,generate interest and let them to communicate .

students work in pairs and ask each others questions related to the topic .

pre-teach (5 minutes) • to test their knowledge .

- write the new vocabulary on the board . -ask students about the meaning of the new vocabulary. -use pictures to clarify the meaning .

matching activity (controlled activity) (5 minutes) • to prepare for reading in next session .

-give students pieces of paper contains a new vocabulary and definitions -ask students to match the vocabulary to the definition.

Reading (3 minutes) • to expose target language in context of article

ask students to read the article quickly .

running dictation (controlled activity) (5 minutes) • to check all students have understood the article.

-The class sits in group 4. The writers sit with their pencils ready. -One of the runners has to run to the board and read sentences and dictate to the writer.

presentation (5 minutes) • to give students an idea of using passive with agent .

- show the students pictures , and ask them who did the action.

free activity (5 minutes) • to give students free practice in producing target language, and give them the chance to personalize their language

-ask students to write an action that she\he has done in pieces of paper, and write their names in other side of the paper . - ask students to switch the papers and change the sentences into passive with agent .
