Description

This is a vocabulary focused listening and speaking lesson with a lot of activities for practice in the context of ''buying things''. It introduces a number of words and practice for the vocabulary of the lesson before.It focuses the Ss to understand how to use what they know and also to enlarge their vocabulary skills.It focuses the students on how to build correct sentences using new vocabulary and phrases to upgrade their level in speaking and listening.(partially reading).

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice with vocabulary in the context of 'buying things' and also to improve listening skills with the help of reading.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide listening for detail practice using an activity text in the context of buyig things and also to provide students with lvocabulary activities for them to check their own understanding.

Procedure

warm up/lead-in (7-8 minutes) • To provide the students with number and vocabulary practice by building sentences

Write ''do you have....? '' '' how much.....? '' '' It's/They're .....'' Divide the Ss into 2 groups. Put the pictures on the W/B with the pricetags under them. Ss ask questions and get answers from the other groups.

Pre-listening / Vocabulary,speaking(numbers) Practice (9-10 minutes) • To provide the students with vocabulary/number practice (pronunciation also)

Divide the students into groups/pairs (optional) Give out the Bingo cards. Tell them the number. Write each number which is already told. Choose the winner. Check answers. Drill if necessary.

Listening for detail (8-10 minutes) • To improve their listening skills and also pronunciation.

Hand out the task to pairs. Ss listen to the recording twice. Ss work on the gapfill. Monitor. Check answers.

Vocabulary Practice (6-7 minutes) • To give Ss practice with the vocabulary.

Hand out the gap-fill. Ss work alone. Monitor. Check their answers using the projector.

Listening for Pronunciation practice (6-7 minutes) • To provide the Ss with pronunciation/form of sentence practice

Listen to 7a. Ss repeat after each sentence. Drill when necessary.

Speaking/Conversation practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide the Ss with the correct order of a speech.

Ss work in pairs Hand out the task. Monitor. Check their answers. Drill when necessary.

Extra Activity (optional) (5-6 minutes) • To memorize everything they listened,spoke and learned about.

Write ''Do/does...have/has ''' ''how much....'' ''It's .....'' on the WB. Divide the W/B into two sides. Give names to the two groups. Write the group names on the W/B. 3,2,1...go !!! Check for any errors. Choose the winners.
