Description

In this lesson, the Ss learn about the "first conditional" if clauses. They also learn the "when" clause in the same context. The lesson starts with grammar clarification. It is followed by practicing. And finally here is free practice with role playing.

  • To provide accuracy in speaking in the context of starting a business, using "if" and "when" clauses

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The lesson starts with a change of places. I will tell them about the guy in the text. "Remember the guy Ash Sharma? He is starting business." There are some sentences in text, "if" and "when" clauses

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

If clause Clause 1 Clause 2 If+Present Simple , will I will explain the meaning and usage of the clauses with some examples. Don't forget the comma. I will show them some situations that they can understand. First examples will be from the text. If it's successful, I will be able to sell advertising. Lead-in: we're starting a business. Pizza Place! "I want you to write some ideas for your meeting with the bank tomorrow" "I want you to write some questions and possible problems about the business" If the chef is good, people will love the pizza. What will happen if the chef is not good? If the people won't like the pizza, we will lose money.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

It's time for the speaking activity. Some of them will be bankers. Some of them will be starting business people. They will have to talk to each other using hopefully "if" and "when"
