Description

This is a reading and writing lesson in the context of friends and ourselves.It introduces a number of words and forms in order for the Ss to understand what they read and how to use what they know.It focuses the Ss on how to build correct sentences using some adjectives and prepositions to upgrade their level in reading and writing.

Main Aims

To give Ss practice in skills of reading and listening for gist and specific forms and ways to understand,write and have discussions in the context of internet profiles of people such as friends.

Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of internet profiles of people

Procedure (41-51 minutes)

Pre- reading (5-6 minutes) • To warm up the Ss and to get them interested with the context of internet profiles (personal profiles) bu using a personal profile of my spouse

Stick the picture of my spouse to the whiteboard. Tell them that I'm married. Start with a ''who is he ?'' question to get them guess and interested in the topic. Point out some phrases.(he lives....,he works....in his freetime,he.... )

Reading (4-6 minutes) • To check their understanding of the profile.

Show the Task Ss work in Groups. Monitor Check the answers with the WC.

Language Focus (8-10 minutes) • To provide them with correct phrases and verbs.

Give examples of your own.( Do you go to a big school ?,What do you do in your freetime ,Do you listen to music ?...etc) FB Drill for ''big school''..not ''school big''.... Write the main verbs on the Wb. Give them the cards. Ss work in pairs to put the phrases under the correct phrase. Check their work.

Pre-Writing (5-6 minutes) • To give Ss practice for focusing on the correct form of sentences.

Show them the task. Hand it out. Ss work in pairs with different partners. Monitor. Check answers. Drill.

Pre-Writing (5-6 minutes) • To give Ss practice with form.

Write 2 sentences on the board from the WrkBk task 4. Underline the end of the sentences and write '' people and places''.. Write the word ''alot'' abd give 2 examples on the Wb. Drill Wc

Check understanding (5-7 minutes) • To give Ss practice of correct form (sentences)

Give them the gap fill. Ss work in groups. Monitor FB.

Writing (9-10 minutes) • To improve writing skills of the Ss and also to give practice of the vocabulary and form of the phrases.

Hand out the writing task. Write the subjects ''home,work,family,freetime''.. Make them take notes to help them write while using them.. Ss write their own profiles using these notes. Hang their papers on the walls and make them read eachothers'.
