Description

There will be a listening part in this lesson which provides the source for the language samples(future tense introduced in 4 different verb forms) . Then Ss will have the chance to practise using the different verb forms (future simple ,present continuous ..) to talk about future .

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of using different verb forms to talk about future .

Subsidiary Aims

  • listening for gist and specific information.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Based on the previous lesson, briefly talk with Ss about things they said they are optimistic about.

Gist (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Give Ss the chart in listening ex1. Focus Ss on the three choices in the chart. Ss listen and complete the chart. Peer check. FB(draw the same chart on the w/b while Ss are listening. Ss come to the w/b and complete it)

Specific information/detail (6-8 minutes) • Listening for specific information

Focus Ss on statements in ex2. Ss discuss in pairs if they remember if they are True/False before re-listening. Ss listen and check. Peer check. FB ( answer keys on the walls- Ss check against) .

Personalisation (5-7 minutes) • Give Ss the opportunity to respond to the topic and discuss thier ideas with their partners

Ss in groups of 3 discuss the question in ex3. FB

Language Focus (6-8 minutes) • To focus Ss on the target lanuage

Focus Ss on the sentences from the listening. Ss work in froups to complete grammar ex1and discuss what they know about thier future forms. FB

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss work in pairs to complete Grammar ex2 FB

Follow-up (4-5 minutes) • To give the Ss the opportunity to use the language of the lesson in a group/pair discussion(supporting opinions)

Ss discuss the questions in Grammar ex2 in pairs. FB
