Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of specific words used in the reading in the context of animals

Procedure

Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context, engage students with the topic and Activate Learner's schemata

Have Ss discuss about their opinion and conclusions about the Visuals on the Blackboard. this will end with a WCFB.

Pre teach Vocabulary (5-5 minutes) • To prepare students and avoid them from blocking when facing new words.

clarify the MFP of Cognitive, Pectoral, quadrupeds and Olfactory

Gist Reading (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Students will read the paragraph quickly and in a short period of time. Ss will be asked after reading to think about a title that matches the reading. Pair must discuss their titles. WCFB

detailed Comprehension (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction reading tasks

Students will have to answer the questions that will be given to them about the reading. Answer will be discussed in pairs.

Writing Task (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

All students will have their task sheet and they will write one reason why they agree or disagree with the title of the Reading based on their own ideas and experiences. They will switch it on to another student in the group (student will be given up to 1 minute to write a statement). switching will be controlled by the teacher. There will be a pair checking afterwards (students will have different statements on their sheet of paper written by different students)

Feedback (10-10 minutes) • Give students an opportunity to speak and share their ideas about the Reading

Students will be given the opportunity to read the statements they have in their sheet.
