Main Aims

  • to develop students' listening skills they are going to listen fof specific reasons. context is 3 people talking about this issue.

Subsidiary Aims

  • to improve their lexis, by pre-vocabulary teaching.

Procedure

Lead in (5 minutes) • To get students engaged in the topic

-write two quotes on the board 'men are what their mothers made them' and 'when women are depressed, they eat or go shopping. Men invade another country. it's a whole different way of thinking' - ask students if they agree or not? and make them discuss with their peers. -ask for feedback 'what do you think?'

Warm up (5 minutes) • To get students engaged in the topic

-write a sentence 'woman without her man is nothing' on the white board -ask students to correct the sentence by using punctuation. It is a fun activity to make students brainstorming. -elicit 'woman! without her, man is nothing.' and 'woman, without her man, is nothing.'. And a short discussion about it. but not long,

Pre vocab teaching (5-7 minutes) • To enable students understand the listening text

-before starting this activity, tell students that they are going to listen to 3 people talking about men-women issues. And they need to remember some vocabulary before listening. -stand in from of the WB and chest the HO -give instructions about matching activity -give HOs to students and let them check with their pairs.

Exercise 1 (10 minutes) • To listen to get familiar with the topic

-stand in fron of the WB -chest the material and give instructions 'they are going to listen to 3 people talking and put the sentences in order what they first talk about and then?' -play the track -let students check with their peers. -get feedback

Comprehension questions (10 minutes) • To make students listen for detailed information

-stand in front of the WB and chest the material -give instruction 'they are going to listen 2nd time but this time they need detailed information. And ask them to write short answers.' -plat the track -let students check with their peers. -get feedback

Discussion (7-10 minutes) • To be sure if students understand the listening text or not

-write 2 questions on the board -ask them to discuss with their pairs and then with the whole class -get feedback
