Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Start the lesson with presenting some photos. These photos show fat and fit persons. Then, show your two of your photos which in one of them you are fit and in the other one you are fat (not fit). Ask students " Do you think why that happened to me?" Elicit main topics such as eating habits and exercise.

Pre-Reading/Listening (2-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Put students in two groups and ask them to discuss factors which may make them fit or fat. Give them 1-2 minutes and then get FB from each group. One group about positive factors and the other group about negative factors.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Play the listening and ask students to find out which person does regular exercises. Ask students to check the answers with others in pairs. Then, ask whole class for the correct answer.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Repeat the tape (Mp3) again and ask students to find the correct answer in part B on page 68. Do the first one to clarify students will understand what they are supposed to do. Ask students to check answers with other students. Then show answers on the board one by one. Ask students if the heard the "fatty' word. If not what was on the tape? What did they hear?

Post-Listening (Speaking) (2-4 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Give students random cards. Ask them to not to return it till you tell them to do. On back of each write 'Doctor' or 'Patient'. Students who are patients need to find a doctor and ask him/her about their eating habits and how they may stay in shape.
