Description

In this lesson students will use simple past to talk about a friend and the things happened about that friend. The lesson will start by a listening which is between 3 friends talking about another friend using the related vocabulary

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide process productive skill writing practice of a report in the context of finding out about a friend
  • To provide practice of daily conversation in the context of summarizing what people say and find out the news about a friend
  • To provide practice of simple past tense in the context of reporting speech.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about a conversation between friends in the context of s
  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of friends

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will look at the picture of people talking and will guess the answer for question below: 1. Who are these people? 2. What are they talking about? 3. Are they talking about a problem? 4. If you have a problem who do you want to talk to? 5. When your friend has problem what do you do?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Students will read two questions in ex.2 and then will listen to a recording of a conversation between three people talking about one of their friends, then they will answer the questions they read.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Students will complete the exercise 3 with remembering the listening in pairs and then they will listen the recording once again to check their answers. The answers will be checked as whole class feedback.

Productive Task(s) (9-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students will work on ex.4 a-b-c and compelet the conversation by their own and then they will act that conversation in pairs.

Feedback and Error Correction (10-15 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Students will work in groups of three to find out about Frank's problem and they will make a conversation on that. each person in the group will have his/her own information card which is going to talk about Frank according to that card. They will use the language mentioned in ex.3 . After the conversation is over Students will read Frank's email and will discus about it.
