Description

In this lesson sts will review their knowledge of grammar. The grammar points are countable and uncountable nouns and the usage of a, any and some.

Materials

Main Aims

  • For sts to review and practice countable- uncountable nouns; and the usage of a, any and some through a listening activity in the context of renting a flat.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give sts practice in listening for gist and detailed listening.

Procedure

Lead-in (Vocabulary) (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Put the furniture pictures on the WB, point one and ask sts what it is. -Get the FB then explain them that you will give them flash cards and ask them to match them with the numbers on the pictures -Get them into 3 groups and make a demo for the task -Give them 2 minutes to finish the task and get the FB as WC -Drill the vocabulary after FB

Lead-in (Grammar) (5-7 minutes) • To review some grammar points

-Draw a table on the WB, write 'liras' into one column and 'money' to the other -Ask them the difference -Get sts into pairs and give them the instructions about exercise 1 -Give them 2 minutes to finish it. -Get FB as a WC

Exposure (Listening) (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-Tell them that they are going to listen a record about renting a flat -Show them exercise 2, get them in pairs and give them instructions for it (give an example) -Give the HO and get sts to listen the CD -After getting whole class FB, change their partners -Show them exercise 3 and give them insturctions for it an give them an example -Get sts to listen the CD again -Get WC feedback

Highlighting (6-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-Draw the table from the exercise 4 on the WB -Show them an example of an each column -Tell them to fill the gaps with their partners in 4 minutes -Get the FB as a WC

Controlled Practice (11-13 minutes) • To concept check and get students practise the target language

-Get students into pairs and name them as Martina and Alex -Show them exercise 5, give them instructions and give them an example -Ask ICQs (What is your name? (Martina or Alex)) -Give them the exercise 5 and give them 5 minutes to finish it -Get the FB by using peer check
