Description

This lesson rounds off these three lessons and moves away from the course book. It gives the Ss the opportunity to practice the questions from the previous lesson, but also language from the last couple of lessons before today in the context of a party.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency in asking questions and giving information in the context of a party

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of wh-question in present simple tense in the context of a party

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask Ss to imagine that they are at a party and to imagine that they meet someone new . Ask what information you want to know about him/her .Write their ideas on the board . Use their ideas to check / revise making questions .

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss will try to form questions using Wh-question in present simple tense Peer feedback before whole class feedback . Ss will work on code breaker handout and try to decode the numbers into letters in order to form questions ,then ask his/her partner the question FB

Productive Task (Semi-controlled practice) (13-17 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss will find out about the other people . Give out the HOs and let them ask each about any they don't know . They will write 2 questions for each subject . Do an example on the board (Where are you from ?) . Give help when it is needed . FB

Productive Task (Freer practice) (4-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss will be asked to go around the class asking other Ss their questions and find someone who gives similar answers to their own . Individually, Ss will write their answers to their own 12 questions on a sheet of paper with their sign on it (a key word ) . Exchange the sheets around the class , they will try to identify the people from their answers . FB

Feedback and Error Correction (4-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Errors on the board . Allow pair work discussion time before the whole class feedback .
