Description

In this lesson Students will talk about TV shows and books and then they will describe their ow favorite.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a an audio recording about different people's idea of TV shows and Books
  • To provide review of favorite book or TV show lexis in the context of It is by some one called, It's quite well-known, It's about this ... who, people say it's.. , I found it, It is based on, It has ... in it, it looks as, it is a really, basically it shows you.
  • Students will express preferences and evaluate ideas and should describe a favorite book or a TV show

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of favorite book and/or TV show

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will talk about my favorite book and will write new lexis on the board. there will be some pictures on the board of books an tv shows which students will look at them and guess what are they. then they will discuss in groups what are they about

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it accessible

Students will look at the pictures and think about what are they about. (brainstorm) Then they will work in pairs about their ideas. CCQ : Are they pictures of different books? Are these pictures of different TV shows? Are the well-known (Famous) ( popular)

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Students will answer the question in the exercise by remembering the recording. Then they will check their answers while listening again and will check their answers in pairs. Then they will categorize the proper words for Book or TV shows or both

While-istening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Students will describe a book or TV ahow which they like or they don't like and will give reasons. The ideas will be shared in groups and groups will choose a book or tv show to recommend or not to.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

one of the students will come to the board and talk about a favorite TV show or a well-known book and the other students will guess which one is that. They are supposed to use the language in the coursebook.
