Description

The prime objective of this lesson is to provide the SS with sufficient fluency,controlled and most importantly free practices. In fact, grammar is the centerpiece of this lesson. It also attaches importance to lexis as vocabulary,along with grammar, constitute the main ingredients of a controlled and fluency practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I provide the class with a number of images and Tell them an anecdote in which I present the grammar and some new vocabulary. In so doing, I hope to pave the way for the ss involvement in the lesson.The visuals are a sure-fire recipe to teach the vocabulary. Next, the ss go on to discuss two questions. They pair up to do so. Next,they form bigger groups to discuss the questions.

Highlighting (10-12 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage, the SS stumble on a range of lexical set concerning home. They get through exercise 2 and then go on to check their answers. As for the answers,I provide them with the answers and the definitions. Next, I am going to focus on stress _ the ss do both choral and individual drills. After that, the ss begin writing examples that are true about them using the new vocabulary. Finally, they stand up and mingle to have some fluency practice .

Reading for Gist and detail (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The ss start reading a passage about two different people. Firstly,they gist read and pair up to exchange ideas. Then they read the text and dig deeper to build up a more clear picture of the texts. In the end, they pair up to answer the questions. To ensure they have comprehended the grammar and the texts i present them with a number of CCQs and comprehension questions. In addition, I need to have the SS match the sentences to the appropriate timelines on the WB.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-11 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In response to some questions, the ss write a description of one of the passages. After four minutes,they pair up and have a mini-discussion. At this stage, the ss form big and bigger groups to have more fluency practice without the notes in their hands.
