Description

In this lesson students will practice speaking about their favorite places(towns,city,village) and the reasons why they like them. They will talk talk about the things that are/are not in these places

Procedure

Lead in (2-3 minutes) • to set a context

Students will be given an example of the teacher's favorite city.The reasons why she likes the city will be elicited for the students and written on the board.The teacher will use her photos to show the market and the beach so that the students have better visual examples.

Vocabulary building (4-5 minutes) • Vocabulary building

The students will be shown pictures of the beach,market,museum,river and square and will be asked to guess the words.In case the students do not know the words the teacher will teach them the new words by using the photos the teaching will be followed by drilling and then the words will be written on the board.There will be drilling on the words students don't know.

Pre-speaking (3-4 minutes) • To engage students with the target language

Students will be asked to write down the name of their favorite city after they are shown a map of Turkey.They will be asked to tick the thing that there are/are not in their favorite places.

Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To engage students with the target language

The students will be given a handout they will be asked to interview their classmates about their favorite cities and the reason why they like them.By the time the students are done with the task they will be asked to talk about the results with their classmates.

Post speaking1 (9-10 minutes) • To use the target language

The handout will be chested and students will be given instructions of the game Bingo.Students will have to tick the words that they hear in their handouts.Whoever has them ticked all will say Bingo. Students will be asked to talk about the pictures with each other so that they can review the names of places

Post speaking 2 (10-12 minutes) • To use the target language in a freer context

Students will be asked to work in groups of 4.One will pick a card with name of a city on it and he is not allowed to read it .he shows the card to the group other students will describe the city until the player come up with the answer a new students will pick a card and the game goes on.
