Description

In this lesson students are going to practice simple present which focuses on he/she/it and the usage of third singular "S" through speaking task.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a controlled practice in the context of free time activity

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of words associated to habbies in the context of hobby

Procedure

Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • to set the context and engage students in the lesson

I am going to provide them with a picture to elicit the word active. then I will put the students in pairs and have them talk about what they usually do in a day.

semi-controlled 1 (5-7 minutes) • To make them generate some sentences about different activities

I will provide them with two pictures and ask them to guess what do they do. Next, I will write the question how active they are to elicit the words very active, quite active and not very active.

controlled practice (10-12 minutes) • review grammar

I intend to give them a hand out, and they are going to write their guesses with positive or negative simple present. when they finished their sentences, First I am going to give them the answer key to check their answers then they will ask their partner to see whether their hunches are right or wrong. I will ask the early finishers to see how many correct answers they have.

semi-controlled (10-15 minutes) • to practice grammar and

They are going to be provided with a HO which includes two Qs which are related to previous lessons (What do they do?/how often do they do it?). The Ss mingle to ask the QS and write their classmate's answers, so that they can practice both adverbs of frequency & time phrases through speaking. next, to check their answers and to make error correction I will have them share their notes with the whole class.

free practice (8-10 minutes) • To give fluency practice

I ask them to write 5 sentences about one family member but before they start the activity I give a demo. And then ask them to share their ideas with each other.

If task (5-8 minutes) • Further practice of the vocabulary by game to energize the class

I will divide the class to four groups and ask one from each group to come to the board to seat facing their own group then I will write a word on the board and their friends mime the activity the first person who guesses the word is the winner.
