Main Aims

Procedure

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

T gives handouts (transcrpts) and tells Ss to fill in the gaps while they are listening. The target language is blank in handout.

Report (4-5 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

Peer check on the correct answers. W/C FB

Language Analysis (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

T show the meaning and form of target language on the board. Elicit the meaning and meaning from Ss. Finally, elicit pronunciation from Ss. Model and drill.

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

T gives handouts to Ss. There are lists of life event from the family dialogue. Work in pairs. One person explain the life event by using target language (past tense and present perfect), and another person respond by using target language (adjectives).

Language Practice (10-15 minutes) • Give freer practice to personalise the topic and use the target language in real life situation

T asks Ss to write about the most impressive family events (1 paragraph). Encourage Ss to use target language. Work in pairs. S1 tells own story to S2, and S2 responds to S1 by using the target language (adjectives) and vice versa. T observes.

Feedback (5-6 minutes) • To correct Ss' language

While Ss are doing freer practice, T lists the good language and errors in their conversations. T writes the errors and good language on the board. Elicit more examples for good language and corrections for the errors from Ss.
