Description

In this lesson ss will practice the time phrases. First they will be learning the pronunciation of the time phrases . Students will then practice pronouncing the time phrases.This is followed by an activity where students practice the time phrases in a group activity . Next, students will become even more familiar with the topic and they will do a pair activity game. They will be asking questions and responding about the topic. Finally, they will being doing a class survey and filling in the survey according to the answers but first they will answer the questions themselves. It will improve their productive (speaking and writing).At the end of this lesson they will be able to ask, answer speak (production) about the topic.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of time phrases in the context of hobbies speaking at work. By the end of the lesson SS will be able to practice the ime phrases and will be able to identify the differences of their preposition.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of simple present tense in the context of daily routine
  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a dialogue in the context of hobbies

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Find the lie activity 1. Give each student a small piece of paper. 2. Tell them to write three pieces of information about themselves on the piece of paper. Two of these bits of information must be true, one is a lie. - My name is Sophal (True) - I am married (False) - I visited Japan in 1999 (True) 3. Tell the students to stand up and to hold their pieces of paper in front of them. 4. They should walk around the classroom, read the information about people and see if they can guess which statement is a lie.

Controlled Practice-focus on the meaning of TL (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Write the days of the week on the board and ask them what they are. Then write a sentence on the board about yourself and ask them what preposition can be used before the days of the week. ex:I play tennis .......Mondays. Then tell them that you will give the handout for them to find which time matches with the correct preposition of time. SS will do it as a pairwork first, tell them to change places and see if they have done the same with the others then tell some pairs to come and write them on the board to give feedback. Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Iwill get the students to practice the time phrases in context. I will tell the students that they will role-play a dialogue of two people speaking at work about their hobbies. Demonstare it with a student first.

Productive Task(s) (9-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will explain that the ss will be pairs and they will play a snap game. One pair will get A cards and one will get B cards. They will snap whenever the right preposition comes with the correct time phrase. They need to do it several times.

Controlled Practice-Personalisation (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the dialogue and expand on what they've learned

In this part I will divide the groups in to Three and give each member of the group A, B or C. Then tell them that they will have to find the correct preposition write 5 questions and then find the ones who are As, Bs or Cs and ask them the questions and answer them according to their partnres answers.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Give FB on the things you heard were wrong while monitoring on the board(delayed FB) if needed an immediata FB will be given too.
