Description

In this lesson,students will learn about a grammar rule using verbs+verb-ing sentences.They will also practice how to read or listen for specific information.Our lesson will start with a lead-in activity about different male-female shopping habits where they need to match paper slips given to them.Then I will explain some unknown verbs for them like don't mind or cant stand.This is followed by a fb session in which they will be asked to practice these forms by producing sentences about themselves.Then the Ss will look for mistakes in the text and then compare their answers by listening to the tape.Finally Ss will have semi controlled spoken practice to develop their spoken accuracy in pairs.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of verbs+ing forms in the context of male and female shopping habits

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss practice in reading and listening for specific information

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show a photo and ask them to guess what it is.Then Ss will be given some activity slips about different habits and they have to match them to the appropriate category which is men and women.They will work in pairs and will check it after with other groups and then WC.

Exposure/Introducing new words (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

In this stage,I am going to try and explain new words with the photos ive got and a timeline that im going to draw on WB. Also making some examples about individuals or myself. Ask Ss a question to check their understanding of prefer.

Task1 (4-5 minutes) • To make sure if they have understood the meaning of the words that i explained in last stage

Ss will be asked to do exercise 1 in pairs in same sex groups so it can be easier for them to share their ideas.Then will check the answers with WC

Task 2 (5-8 minutes) • To make them get familiar with the formation of the verb+ing form sentences

Ss should read the sentences again and underline the verbs and verb phrases followed by ing form in pairs and once they are done,will tell them to make sentences of these phrases about themselves.But no checking with WC.

Task 3 (4-7 minutes) • To figure out and correct the formation of the sentences in the text

Ss will be asked to work in group of 3ppl and correct the errors of the sentences in the text.This stage will be followed by listening to tape and they should check their answers with tape,Thats why they dont check the answers with WC in this stage

task 4/listening to tape (3-5 minutes) • To check their answers which they did in last stage.Also to learn to listen for specific information

SS will listen to the tape for the information they want and will correct their mistakes.After they checked their answers with their partners.

task 5 (5-8 minutes) • Speaking task in which Ss can personalize the topic and i can correct their errors while speaking

Ss will work in new pairs and discuss the sentences above and i will monitor and correct them and then they will make sentences about their partners and will say it to the WC.
