Reading: To provide activities for skimming and scanning.
Procedure (23-37 minutes)
. put the pictures about the Oscars on WB. . Elicit "the oscars" from the students . Preteach "ceremony" and "nominate" . Give them HO1 ( exercise 2a) . they discuss the questions in pairs. . Ask sts to share their ideas.
. Students work in pairs and guess the answers of the questions in HO1 ( exercise 2b). . Give text to the sts and ask them what they know about the people in the photos. . Students scan the text and check their answers. . Help them with any vocabulary questions.
. Write the numbers on papers and put them on WB . Tell students to can the text and find information about these numbers in the text.
. tell sts to look at the text again and focus on the highlighted words. . Ask some CCQs in order to elicit "The passive" . Put the papers with sentences on WB. . Ask sts to match them. . When they are done ask more CCQs in order to establish the passive voice.
Give sts HO2 ( ex 4b). Tell them to look at the highlighted words in text and match them witht the tenses from the HO2 .Check the answers WC and correct any mistake
