Description

In this lesson, I am going to introduce "Living and Working." Basic lexis to explain where people live and work is going to be covered and the grammar point of the session is Present Simple: affirmative.

Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To review what they have learnt

I am going to use Bob and ask them questions about prepositions of place using the objects that they are going to learn.

Vocabulary (5-7 minutes) • Is to elicit words of work places.

I am going to show them some pictures of the places and try to elicit the words. Then they are going to match the pictures with the words on the WB Drilling.

Vocabulary-Collocations-Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To be able to make sentences in the context

I am going to ask the students to look at the picture and tell what they see. Then they are going to listen and repeat the sentences. Then I am going to ask them to skim the chart and fill in the gaps. Drilling.

Freer Practice (7-8 minutes) • Writing and Speaking

I am going to ask the students to write three sentences about themselves. Then I am going to ask one of them to tell the sentences aloud. Then they are going to mingle and talk to each other about themselves.

Grammar (Present Simple: affirmative and interrogative) (9-10 minutes) • To learn how to ask and answer questions using simple present tense.

I am going to ask one of them again to tell the sentences aloud. Then I am going to talk about his/her sentences to expose the change in the verb with the third person. Then, I am going to draw a chart on the board: affirmative I am going to ask another one a question in simple present tense (Do you work in an office?) And then I am going to ask the same question to another student (Does she work in an office?) Then I am going to draw a chart on the board: interrogative

Controlled Practice,Information Gap (8-9 minutes) • To practice simple present tense and the lexis

I am going to delvier cards with pictures. The students are going to work in pairs to fill the gaps. Then I am going to ask them to check their answers with their partners. In the last few minutes, I am going to use Bob again to ask them questions about themselves before finisihing the class.
