Description

The primary aim of the lesson is to improve students' fluency and accuracy.

Materials

Abc HOs,WB,CD player,photocopiable practice and markers

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of Presernt simple in the context of Greeting
  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Greeting

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Present simple in the context of Greeting

Procedure

Warmer (5-6 minutes) • To prepare the students for the part regarding countries

I put some pictures of famous people on the board along with their nationalities on the right section of the white board. I ask them, WHERE ARE THEY FROM?, then I will give them three minutes to guess where they are from.

Countries (5-6 minutes) • To teach them the names of countries

I provide students with images representing landmarks and things that are normally associated with certain countries. Students pair up and match the pictures to the countries.

Greeting (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening.

I am going to bring two of the trainees to have a demo conversation then the students listen to the recording and guess who knows who. After that, i will get them to go through the conversation using their own names.

Gtreeting a foriegner (5-7 minutes) • To give students fluency practicce and boost their confidence

I ask students to stand up and go to the CELTA trainees in the class to greet them and introduce themselves. then they get back to me and tell me where they are from.

Grammar To be (7-9 minutes) • To help students use accurate grammar

Once students are done with exercise one they move on to exercise 2 where they are expected to make accurate examples about the names and the origins of the people in the pictures. Then I call upon some of the students to give me the answers.

Asking and saying where you are from (8-10 minutes) • To give students further fluency practice

I am going to give students different nationalities then I am going to get to them to mingle and ask others where they are from. They need to keep a record of names and countries on apiece of paper.
