Description

In this lesson, students practice questions to ask for personal information through a form filling activity. They also learn subjects and possessive adjectives. The lesson starts with matching questions exercise about personal information. They practice how to ask questions and how to reply to these questions. This is followed by practising possessive adjectives and a form filling activity.

Main Aims

  • To review and practice questions to ask for personal information through a form filling activity

Subsidiary Aims

  • To review and practice subject and possessive adjectives. To give students controlled speaking practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

My personal information: first/second name, country, languages I speak, how to spell my name. A quick exercise about spelling names: Ask some sts randomly how to spell their names.

Controlled Practice 1 (8-10 minutes) • To practice how to ask for personal information and how to respond to them

Students do ex.6 p.9 and check in pairs -Everyone in the class has got HO -Explain the exercise and let them do it individually -Allow them to check the answers with their partners -Provide the correct answers for the class

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To practice more about asking personal information

-Students cover the questions and look at the answers. They practise saying the questions with their partners. -Practice saying the questions with the WC

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Write subject pronouns on the WB and get students to say the possessive adjectives. -e.g. I have got a book. It's ..... book.

Controlled Practice 2 (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and practice the TL

-Give students ex.7 p.9 and let them do the exercise in pairs -Give students the exercise on p.131 -Check the answers with the WC + concept check

Preparation for form-filling activity (2-3 minutes) • To provide explanation about abbreviations of name titles

-Explain the difference between the titles of Miss, Mrs and Ms

Controlled Practice 3 (12-15 minutes) • To practice asking personal information through a filling form activity

-Students look at the form on page 122. In turn, they ask questions and complete the form for their partner. -They look each other's forms and check that the information is correct.
