In this lesson, the students are going to learn how to talk about the present and past habits.

Main Aims

  • Introducing the students the use of " will " and " would " to talk about the present and past habits.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Helping the students practice listening and speaking in the context of talking about annoying habits.

Procedure

Warm-up / Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage the students in the activities.

1- The teacher will have the students remember what they did in the previous lesson activating their schemata. 2- The teacher will give them the tapescript of the listening part 1 to have them ready for today's topic.

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language having the students read a text related the listening part 1 to increase SSS.

1- The teacher will have the students read 2 sentences taken from the lesson's listening text and have them find out the grammar structure of these sentences. 2- Then, the teacher will have the students look at the extracts and discuss the questions in pairs. 3-After this, the teacher will ask some CCQs to the student to make sure that the students have understood the concepts in 1. 4- Then, the teacher will elicit the answers from the students and check them with the WC.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw the students' attention to the target language form.

1. The teacher will ask some questions to the students to elicit the form of the target language.

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide the students to talk about their morning routines using the TL structure.

1- The students will be given a small text, including a description of morning routines to read to enhance their receptive skill, reading. 2- Then, the teacher will have the students change the verbs in bold from the present simple to the TL structure " will / 'II " + verb, but only where they can do so without changing the meaning of the text. The semi-controlled practice 3-The teacher will have the students work in pairs and describe their morning routines of members of their own family to each other to increase SSS and enhance their productive, writing and speaking.

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity for the students to describe their family members' morning routines.

1- The teacher will give the students a piece of paper, including 3 boxes and some phrases to have the students combine these phrases from A and verb structures from boxes B and C. 1- The teacher will have the students work in pair and give them time to prepare their sentences before having them talk about their past experiences with their partners. 2- Then, the teacher will have the students report about their partners.

Receptive Skills (5-7 minutes) • To enhance the students' receptive skill, listening.

1- The teacher will give the students sentences to be completed using the verb phrases in the box and then the teacher will have the students listen and check their answers.

Extension Activity (3-5 minutes) • To increase SSS.

1- The teacher will have the students work in pair and have them choose which of the habits in 1 would most annoy them and put them in order of most to least annoying.
