In this lesson students will learn to pronounce and write the months of the year. Accompanied by a significant drawing of each month, example: February- Day of love and friendship- Drawing.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of family lexis in the context of Months of the year

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a Flashcards in the context of Months of the year

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Talk a little with the students about the months, ask them some questions: What is your favorite month? Because?

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Show students a video about the months of the year and some festivity that is related to it.

Useful Language (6-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Present flashcards made by the teacher as an example and realization of what they are going to do and explain how they are going to do it.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Provide time for students to make their flashcars of the months of the year along with their representative drawing.

Feedback and Error Correction (12-14 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Give feedback by bringing students to the front to talk a bit about their flashcards and generally correcting mistakes (mutually supporting student/peer-teacher)
