Main Aims

  • To provide practice in spelling animal words in the context of farm animals.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of spelling words for the different sizes of animals in the context of farm animals.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Begin the class by showing again the pictures that represent different farm animals and ask the students to indicate their names. Lead a brief discussion about the English alphabet.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

play the song of the alphabet, so that they identify the sound present the flash cards of the letters of the alphabet sing the alphabet song with the support of the flash cards

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Clarify the pronunciation of the letters of the alphabet, for the spelling of words of the name and characteristics of the farm animals.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Show the pictures of the animals Ask them to spell the names of the animals in small groups pass around the flash cards to spell the words about the characteristics of the animals

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

assign a letter of the alphabet to each student to repeat it with the song spell the names of farm animals (rooster, hen, cow, horse, pig, sheep, goat).
