Description

In this lesson students will learn how to report something to other people. They will learn all the tense that they should use in reporting speech. And they will learn to use both direct and indirect speech.

Materials

Abc Pictures, Book

Main Aims

  • To provide students reporting with direct and indirect speech.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students make sentences with indirect speech and make them to know the rules that they have to obey in reporting speech.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At first I will tell a story of my self and use reporting speech grammar in my sentences and then ask them a question which is related to the thing that I had told them.

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

At this stage I will again ask them another question and make them to use reporting speech in their sentences.

Highlighting (5-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

At this stage I will start explaining reporting speech.

Clarification (7-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this part I will show my students some pictures and explain all of them.

Controlled Practice (5-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask my students to complete the blank from the picture that I will show them.

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In this stage I will give my students exercise and give them 1 minute to the exercise and then we will check their answers together.

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In the end I will ask my students a question which is related to our grammar and ask them to tell me their answers.
