Description

In this lesson, we focused on the topic of seasons of the year and their corresponding weather. The main aim of the class was to introduce and familiarize the second-grade students with the four seasons and their associated weather conditions. Additionally, we aimed to practice speaking and listening skills through discussions and conversations about seasons and weather.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Begin the class by asking students about their favorite season and what kind of weather they like. Encourage them to use basic weather-related vocabulary and show flashcards for better understanding

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Show a video about different seasons and weather conditions. Describe the visuals using simple sentences and gestures.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Have students work in pairs or small groups to role-plays describing the weather in different seasons. Provide examples to support their task.

Planning (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

Give students time to plan and practice role-plays. Encourage them to use the target vocabulary and expressions discussed earlier.

Report (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

Have each group or pair present their role-plays to the class. Encourage other students to listen actively and provide positive feedback

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

Clarify the meaning, form, and pronunciation of weather-related vocabulary and expressions used in the task. Use visuals, gestures, and examples to aid comprehension.

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Provide students with additional practice by engaging them in speaking activities. This can include asking and answering questions about weather, describing weather in different seasons, or creating weather charts together.
