Description

In this lesson , the students will review and practice the grammar rules they have just studied in Unit 8 . By applying the TTT , the students will fill in the gaps with the suitable preposition followed by a task on making wh questions . Finally , they will fill in the gaps with the comparative forms of short and long adjectives . All these activities are followed by three speaking activities for fluency.

Main Aims

  • To review and practice the use of different prepositions in the context of weekend activities.
  • To review and practice making Wh questions in the context of hometown.
  • To review and practice the comparative forms of short and long adjectives in the context of different countries.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students practice in speaking for fluency in different contexts (Weekend activities , hometown and comparing England and Turkey).

Procedure

Lead in (5 minutes) • To introduce , generate interest and get the students ready for answering the questions.

In pairs , the students are going to talk about the activities of the last time they went away for the weekend.

Task 1 (7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to use the correct preposition.

The aim of the task is to fill in the gaps with the suitable preposition. The students will work individually to test their ability to choose the suitable preposition . Then , check their answers in groups. This way , they will review the grammar themselves without the teacher's assistance.

Task 2 (11 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to make Wh questions .

The aim of the task is to make questions using different question words. The students will work individually to test their ability to make questions . Then , check their answers in groups. This way , they will review the grammar themselves without the teacher's assistance.

Speaking Task (9 minutes) • To practice speaking for fluency.

Working in pairs , Students will take turns to ask and answer the questions about their hometown or the town/ city they are in now.

Task 3 (8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to make the comparative forms of some adjectives.

The aim of the task is to fill in the gaps with the comparative form of some short and long adjectives. The students will work individually to test their ability to make the correct comparative form . Then , check their answers in groups. This way , they will review the grammar themselves without the teacher's assistance.

Speaking Task (5 minutes) • To practice speaking for fluency.

Working in groups , Students will answer the questions about England and their countries and make meaningful sentences using the comparative form.
