In this lesson, students learn about the various family members within the family tree.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Place students in five different teams and give each one a memorama to work on.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Place the following words on the board, in disorder: grandmother, grandfather, mom, dad, brother, sister, daughter, son, aunt, uncle, cousin, cousin, boyfriend, girlfriend. And read each of the words with them, to later indicate what they mean and explain how each word is heard

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Post an audio of the family members, so that while the students are listening, they can draw a picture of the family members they heard appeared in the video.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Give the students another audio, where the structure of a girl's family tree is mentioned, and tell the students that while they are listening to the audio, they will have to draw the girl's family tree. If they like, they can invent names for the members of the family

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Indicate to the students that they should write in their notebook, the different members of their family
