Description

This lesson is about introducing the basic vocabulary to a group of beginners. SS will learn the days of the week and moths of the year.

Materials

Abc Calendar
Abc pictures with the names of the week

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of days of the week and months.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Provide fluency and accuracy by speaking about the days and months of the week oral practice in conversation.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To generate inteseret in a the topic of the lesson and engage students.

I will bring a calendar to class and I asked SS what do we use this for? I will try to choose the words days and months. I'll ask them what day it is today. and what is this month?

Exposure (5-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will give each student a calendar and ask them to mark their birthdays and Christmas Day with a red marker.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask you to focus on the days of the week and tell me how many days there are in the week. and how many months is the year

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language.

I will put some cards for the months by order starts with Sundays until Saturday. Then I will ask them "Today is...", "Yestedar was..." "Tomorrow is..." "Our class is on...", "Then I will remove the cards and dill the days by order and the ask them to repeat in groups and them individually. Them I will do the same with months. I will ask them We are in which month? Then I will drill them first and the individually. Then I will ask the some Checking quesions. 1- In which is your birthday? 2- In which month is the Moher's day? February 3- What is the first month? 4- What is the last month?

Controlled Practice (5-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice.

I will give pictures with the names of the week re-arrange the days of the week and the months. check in pairs. Give them the feedback.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language.

I will ask them to work in pairs and talk to each other about special events in any month of the year and their routine on a special day of the week. They will give me feedback on each other.
