Description

In this lesson students learn about the weather through the usen of vocabulary games through cards with words related to the weather such as sun, rain or wind. This is followed with a memory game where stuents look at the word and its picture to finally practice using sentences and using songs

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of different types of weather

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of weather words in the context of different climates

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show the students some images where various climates are shown, the students will say what they observe in it

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The students observe through the window of their school what the day looks like when I listen to their opinions I am going to tell them how to say it in English

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Show the students some flashcards in which they will have an image and the word in how to write sunny, rainy, snowy, windy and cloudy

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

first pronounce how each type of weather is said once I say it, the students must repeat each of the words guided by the teacher so that in the end they pronounce it on their own as they managed to understand it

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students draw the weather and the way it is written

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

show the students the song of how's the weather where the weather is mentioned with the help of the flashcards the students will be able to sing the song

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The students through the drawings of their weather changes and what they remembered in class the students should unite in pairs to pronounce each weather among themselves as a practice
