Description

students listen to three people talking about something they have seen, listened to or read recently. they make notes while they listening. Then students should choose a movie or a play they have seen recently and review this to the class by talking about the actors ,authors and whether they like the movie or not.

Materials

Abc two categorizing handouts ,audios and pictures.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice as students will review a movie ,book or song to the class as a presentation. in the context of media

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about Three people talking about something they have seen, read or listened to recently. in the context of media

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-ins (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

students categorize the activities in exercise one individually, then compare their opinion in pairs. They categorize the activities under two headings; activities they never do and activities they do all the time.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students listen to three people talking about what they have seen, read or listened to recently. Teacher provides them with the table to fill in with some notes they will hear in the three audios. Students check the answer in pairs. Teacher shows them the answer key as in the tape script.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Teacher provides student with the useful language for coming speaking task. Have the students sort out the phrases that they are going to use under two headings a,b .The first heading is ( phrases we use to describe something) and the second one is (giving your opinion).students check their answers in pairs. Teacher shows them the answer keys and provide the meaning with the difficult ones.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Individually, student choose one of things they have seen, read or listened to from exercise one. Teacher tells students that they will review this to the class. Teacher provides students with some questions to help them prepare their review. what is it? when/ where did you see it ? what were its strong points ? what were its weak points? what words would you use to describe it? Do you think your classmates would enjoy it ?

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

ask the students if they find an interesting book or movie they might want to watch or read later. correct the mistakes the students might make during the speaking task.
