Abc Materials for puppet

Main Aims

  • To provide listening comprehension of a short story students may already be familiar with

Subsidiary Aims

  • for students to practice critical thinking by making predictions and create a product related to the story they heard

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greet ss and arrange the seating in a semi circle Show them a book and ask if they know what it is. Explain that you will be reading stories today.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show the cover of the book and ask the kids to guess what the story might be about based on the illustrations. Briefly introduce the main characters.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

before reading the story have ss and identify different vocabulary by answering questions. go through the pictures and point to each vocabulary and ask "what is this?" with different items that could interfere with the students understanding of the story.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Start reading the story and stop at different points of the story to ask ss for predictions for what will happen next Use different voices and gestures to engage ss, also encourage them to repeat the different gestures

Post-Reading/Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ss will create their own puppet with some materials that they will bring to the class and others that the teacher will provide. T will instruct ss and will provide help with things that are harder to handle such as hot gluing. Ss will name their puppets
