Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T gets SS the attention T shares the screen and shows the first slide using Google Presentation WHAT RESPONSABILITIESDO YOU HAVE AS AN ADULT IN YOUR DAILY LIFE T asks nominates 1 S to ask the T the question to induct the students to give similar responses. T tells SS to take notes of the questions or take a picture of the Slide Presentation T gives SS 3 minutes to discuss the activities in the BORs. T waits 3 minutes. T nominates 2 SS to give answers. T nominates another S and asks if he/ she agree/disagree.

Text Work (7-8 minutes) • To provide Ss a context for the target language through a text or situation

T gets SS attention “okay guys, now I will share”… T shares the screen and shows Google Forms T asks SS to look at the dialogue. T gives SS 1 min to read individually and to identify words/phrases expressing degrees of obligation .. T conducts an OCFB CCQs about MODAL VERBS T shares SS a Google Form link in the chat box. T asks not to submit the activity. T asks SS to answer 2 questions T sends SS BORs to discuss the answers.3 minutes long. T asks ICQ: What are we supposed to do? (Read and answer). Are we submitting the activity?(no) T waits SS to finish the activity and then T nominates 2 SS to give answer to the 2 questions. CCQs: The word must in this sentence express permission or obligation? Can you decide? Do you have an option? Why I must do it?

M(A)FP (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T gets SS attention “okay guys, now I will share”… T shares the screen and shows Google Forms T shares SS a Google Form link in the chat box. T explains SS the vocabulary activity. T asks SS to look at the 3 sentences. T elicits meaning form the SS T asks not to submit the activity. T gives SS 2 min to read and complete the meaning individually. T asks SS to give thumbs up when they are ready. T asks ICQ: What are we supposed to do? (Read and complete the meaning). Is it an individual activity? (yes) T waits SS to finish the activity and then T nominates 3 SS to give answer to the 3 sentences. ICQS: while SS are answering. T shares the screen and shows a Google Presentation to cover Form and Pronunciation. T reads SS the first sentence containing MUST. T reads a sentences and puts emphasis on pronunciation and exaggerates the intonation of the the word “MUST .CCQs: where do you think is the emphasis is this sentence? MUST. where is the stress part? yes what type of word is MUST.( modal verb) Can this word take the plural form? Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gets SS attention T shares the screen and shows Google Forms T shares SS a Google Form link in the chat box. T explains SS the Controlled Practice Activities T gives SS 3 minutes to do the acitvities individually.Then, T sends SS 4 min to BORs to discuss the answers. T asks ICQ: what are we supposed to do? (discuss the answers) T gets SS attention “okay now”… After the 4 minutes, T nominates 1 SS to answer 1 to answer the first activity (If it’s not correct, T asks the opinion of another S to get the right answer) T repeats the previous step with 2, 3, and 4 Before moving to the final task, T asks if everything’s clear and if there are any questions.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T gets the SS attention. “okay people, this is the final task” T shares screen using Google Presentation T gives SS 5 minutes to discuss in groups the "Crazy/Funny rules for online lessons" T tells SS to take notes of the questions or take a picture of the Slide Presentation T asks CCQ: what are we supposed to do? (write rules) what words are we including in the rules? (must, have to, not alloawed to.) T stops sharing the screen and creates the breakout rooms. T monitors every breakout room and takes notes in Word for the language feedback at the end. T nominates 1 SS of every breakout room to share the ideas discussed in every group on the final task. T takes notes to find patterns or to summarize the ideas while the students share their comments.
