Listening dangerous animals
A2 level

Description

In this plan we are going to learn some new words about animals and listen and check the answers of the listening about animals and dangerous animals. After the listening we have the " second conditional sentences " grammar.

Materials

Abc American English File 2 Student Book

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about dangerous animals

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Conditional Sentences Type 2 in the context of dangerous animals and their habitat

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Here in the first stage I am going to start to talk about having pet and if they ever wanted a specific kind of animal as their pet to lead them to listening.

Pre-Reading/Listening (1-2 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage I am going to show them some pictures of animals so that they can understand what we are going to listen this session. Then tell them to take a look at the book and the exercises and give them some time.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Now in this stage I am going to play the listening for them. They are going to hear it once and I will ask them gist questions ( bold question like tell me the names of the animals that are mentioned or so.)

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Here after the first time I will give them some time to read the questions before and then I will play the listening for the last time for detailed information for them. Then i will give them some time to answer the questions and then check it with the whole class. If it was needed I will play the audio for the third time.

Post-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

And finally after listening to the audio twice and check the answers ( the controlled practice ) we have free practice here. We will talk about our answers a little and then I will ask the a question so that we can talk about it. My question for this part is: Have you ever had a dangerous animal as a pet ? what happened to them? anddd here is the kinda free practice that will lead them to the grammar ( about second conditional sentences).
