Description

In this lesson, students will listen to 4 people answering the question" Have you ever bought something that you have never worn ? The vocabulary focus is on shopping.

Materials

Abc American English file student book 2 (second edition)
Abc Audio
Abc Photo (PDF)

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information in the context of shopping, develop listening skills.

  • To provide clarification and practice in the context of shopping
  • To provide fluency in the context of shopping

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher talks about her personal experience.Then she asks the students some questions related to the topic of shopping.

Pre-Listening (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The teacher shows some photos and asks some specific questions which involve the listening context. after seeing the photos, the teacher gives listening questions to the students.They should read the questions to know what exactly they are looking for in the next step.

While-Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students listen to four people being asked the same question, Have you ever bought something that you have never worn? They just listen for the items of clothing and number them in the list, and then they will check their answers in pairs, after that the answer will be checked by the whole class.

While-Listening #2 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students listen to the text one more time.This time, they should listen to the text more carefully and look for details(what was the problem with the clothes? writ 1_4 in the boxes.

Post-Listening (5-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher asks some questions related to the listening part, like: Have you ever bought any : Have you ever bought anything online? so how was that? how much did you pay for that dress? were you satisfied with your purchase?
