Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start with a question. I will ask, When did you start boxing? Why? To get students to share a personal experience. I will then ask follow-up questions. I will use the correction technique where I will correctly rephrase what they say in the form of a more spesific question or comment.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will ask the student to read the verbs in the exercise and to complete the 6 sentences using those verbs. I will specify that he can ask questions. He will have 9 minutes to complete the exercise. I will use ICQs: How much time do you have? Can you ask questions?

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

We will check the answers together. I will note the verbs he had trouble with or he got wrong. I will use various tools to teach MFP. Meaning: I will make sure he understands the meaning of the verb with further examples and with MCQs. Form: Together we will visually match: have with had, teach with taught. To make sure he relates the past with the infinitiv form. Pronunciation: I will model and drill each verb.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

I will write 5 questions in which the answer requires the use of the verbs in the past. The questions will be about the student's personal experience. The student will read the question and then answer using complete sentences and without help.

Free practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask the student, who is your favorite boxer? Then I will ask him to tell me about the trajectory of his favorite boxer. I will demo the answer. My favorite boxer is____. He won his first tournament in....
