Main Aims

  • To introduce and practice vague language in context of inheritance.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Fluency/Fluidity in TL.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Using Google slides, I will begin by discussing my own kind of inheritance followed by images containing 2 questions in order to elicit class responses/engagement to ensure comprehension of the topic.

Exposure/Text-work (7-9 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will be given a text to read for approx. 3 minutes and prompted to answer questions (individually) from the previous slide. Once they have completed the task, an answer key will be provided.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

A task will be provided using the text, imagery, and words to introduce/elicit the TL from the students. Answer key will be provided.

Clarification (7-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Will discuss MFP of the TL, on Google slides, while using ex:1a from pg.98 and 155(SB)

Controlled Practice (6-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Will repost handout of pg.61(WB) ex:1 for students to complete the exercise (9 fill in the blanks) within the text, individually, followed by BORs in order to check their answers with fellow students. Afterward an answer key will be provided.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will be given a task along with a handout from pg.98, examples 1b and 1c, to practice fluently with each other through BORs. Once brought out of BORs, I will provide feedback and go over the answer key, ending with questions related to the topic and/or tasks.
