Description

In this lesson, learners will learn about new vocabulary: adjectives related to describing objects. The lesson will start with a lead-in to engage learners in the topic. Then, learners will take test 1 to measure their prior knowledge for the target language. After that, the teacher will teach the new and difficult vocabulary.Next, Learners will do test 2 to check their understanding. Finally, learners will work in pairs and discuss using the target language.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Greet the ss with a smile to everyone to strengthen the rapport with them. 2- Show ss some pictures of different objects and ask them to think which one would they like to have and why? 3- Ask learners how the can describe these objects. 3- Make ss after that discuss it in pairs.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

1- Tell ss that they are going to work alone first to match the adjectives with their opposites. 2- Tell ss to check their answers in pairs. 3- Monitor and feedback. Instructions 1-Alone, match the words with their opposites. (7 minutes) 2-Check in pairs after you finish. Use ICQs 1- Are you going to write or match? (match) 2- Are you going to work alone or in pairs? (alone) 3- How much time do you have to do this exercise? (7 minutes)

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

1 - Go through the answers to the previous exercise. 2 - Pay attention to the meaning, pronunciation, and form of the following vocabulary items: pretty, fashionable, stylish, powerful, economical, uncomfortable, and unusual. 3 - Use visuals, definitions, exemplification, context, synonyms, and antonyms.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

1-Tell ss that they are going to look at the objects in the photos in PPT. Then, choose three adjectives from the box in the handout to describe each object. 2-Tell ss that they are going to work alone first. Then, check in pairs. 3- Demo with Ss the first one. 3-Monitor and feedback. Instructions 1-Choose three adjectives from the box in the handout to describe each object in the photos in PPT in one sentence. (8 minutes) 2- Check in pairs. Use ICQs 1-Will you write words or sentences? (sentences ) 2- How many sentences will you write for each object? ( One sentence) 3-How many adjectives will you use for each sentence? (three adjectives) 4-Will you work alone or in pairs? (Alone )

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- Make ss change the pairs. - Make ss work in pairs and take turns as student A and student B to ask and answer the questions in the handout. -Demo with learners to guide them in their discussion. - Give them some time to prepare for their roles. ( 2minutes) -Then perform the discussion in pairs. (8 minutes) - Do delayed error correction on board. ( 3 minutes) Instructions - Prepare your roles as student A and student B from the given handouts. (2 minutes) -In pairs, take turns as student A and student B to ask and answer the questions in the handout. (8 minutes) Use ICQs 1- will you write or discuss? (Discuss) 2-Will you discuss in pairs or groups? (In pairs) 3- How much time do you have? ( 8 minutes )
