  • To provide product writing practice of a narration in the context of origin and meaning of your name

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Write a couple of sentences (2 – 3) using the verb pattern, ask the S to read them, and ask “What can you see in these sentences” - Introduce the topic of the lesson.

Presentation TL (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

- Introduce all the sentences, and ask the S to repeat and pronounce them one by one. - Say “Now, can you find the pattern verb + noun + noun?” •explain the model sentences. - Ask the s if she can think of more examples using the following verbs: call, make, appoint, elect, vote, consider, and declare. - Give her 5 minutes to come up with the examples; show your own examples.

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

- Explain the skimming/scanning subskills, say “Ok, I will give you 1 minute to skim the passage, and tell me what is it about. Once finished explaining the three different types of reading questions o True/false / not given o Multiple choice o Sentence Completion - Give strategies and tips for each and every one of them - Set the reading activity. Give her enough time to read and answer the questions.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- Ask students to reflect on the importance of their own name. What does their name mean? Were they named after anyone? Do they have any nicknames or titles they go by? - T sets the activity and says "Now we will write about naming people" - "Imagine you are giving a written report about your name". "include details about your name, its origin, and any nicknames or titles you go by". - T encourages Ss to use the TL of the unit and show it in the slide. - After students have finished writing, ask them to share their work with a partner or in small groups. Encourage them to give feedback on each other's writing, focusing on the use of vocabulary and verb patterns.
