In this lesson we are going to learn about conditional sentences type 2 in the context of traveling in time and ancient civilizations.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Traveling in time

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

We are going to make the students ready by starting a conversation about traveling in time and some ancient civilizations that were phenomenal and unique by using the conditional sentences type 2.

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage we are going to use some of the students sentences about the previous conversation and turn them into conditional sentences type 1 and ask them to change the sentences into unreal sentences but then turn their sentences into the correct form of the conditional sentences type 2

Clarification (4-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Here in this stage we are going to clarify and explain the new grammar and the structure of the second conditional sentences and how to make these kind of sentences and the way they say these sentences ( the correct pronunciation ).We give them some examples too.

Controlled Practice (1-2 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage we tell them to do the exercises at the end of the student book in the groups of 2 and change their answers with each other (and ask them CCQ) and let them talk and correct themselves ( we will not interfere them ). And then we are going to to check the exercises with the whole class and correct their mistakes.(feedback is here and needed )

Free Practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

At the end we are going to have a free conversation about the previous one ( traveling in time and ancient civilizations ) and let the students talk and use the target language and other tenses. We are going to ask them to turn one of their impossible wishes into the second conditional sentence.
