In this lesson students will In this lesson students will practice and develop their reading skills through the medium of a text about news. The lesson starts with discussing the title of the headlines of news reports and then the Ss will try to give their predictions about which tv stories are they. What do they think?

Main Aims

To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about whats in the news

Subsidiary Aims

To practice the past simple tense for accuracy in the context of what is in the news

Procedure (16-45 minutes)

Lead-in (3-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students on the gist for news

T recall ss names and then ask students to match some infitives to its iiregular past simples forms and check with a partner

Reading for Gist (3-5 minutes) • Student will practice for gist and ss prepared for the reading

I will hang two headlines of news reports on the WB and have ss to say what they think. which tv news stories are they about. what do they think?

While-Reading (5-15 minutes) • For students to practice reading closely for detailed information

I will put students in group of two and give students the text and question to read and answer the questions on their own and the teacher monitors ss. After finish reading and compair their answers. they work in pairs to check each others answer. if the students agreeupon their answers the teacher ends this stage.if the students have some different answers, the teacher ask student to explain the reasons for that answer,

Post - Reading. (5-15 minutes) • To provide ss with an opportunity to speak more frelly in groups and use the TL

I will ask students to tell me about any lottery in their country an tell me if they have mountain climbers in their country and discuss in groups of two
