Description

In this lesson, students will produce the language after reading an article about street food. The lesson starts with a lead_in activity then a review stage then reading for gist and some useful language then speaking activity

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation through groups and different interactive patterns in the context of Street food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Different kinds of street food in the context of Pad Thai, satay , burrito

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I bring a photo about street food and ask ss about this topic and their favorite street food. I give them some food names and they classify that into 5 categories. then I give some clarification on the board.

PTV • To provide students with the blocking words and the differences between street food kinds.

I show a picture of each blocking word that hinders students to understand the passage. I elicit the meaning of the word from ss and I drill it with groups and whole class.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I let students read for gist to answer a question. They read fast and they do not read every single word. They answer the questions individually then in pairs and they check the answers on board.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I write some chunks students may use to speak and clarify the phrases we use to describe the recipes of some food. I drill some phrases.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I start the speaking activity with writing the names of some known recipes and how let ss talk about them. I give ss a content and linguistic feedback.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Write down the errors that ss do and give content feedback and language feedback.
