Description

In this lesson, students will practice the listening skill through an audio about how to clean your house in three minutes and they will speak about what they think about this. Moreover, they will learn some vocab that will help them through listening.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about How to clean a house in three minutes in the context of cleaning

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of cleaning

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T will show the ss some questions in the PPP. - T will ask a student the first question: Are you generally a tidy person or a messy person? - T asks the student to choose one of his/her colleges to ask him/her the second question. - T asks the students to stand up and find a partner to discuss the questions. - T asks ss tell me one thing you know about your partner

Pre-Reading/Listening (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- T asks the Ss a question: How much time do you spend cleaning your home? - T gives ss a question to discuss in pairs. - T tells the ss you are going to listen to a radio program that tells you how to clean your house in three minutes. - Before listening T teaches the ss some vocab through a handout and asks ss to match the pictures with the words. - T checks the answers with the ss.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (3-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-T tells the ss now you are going to listen to the audio. - T gives the ss an exercise which is to tick beside the things which were mentioned in the audio. -T tells them to do it alone. - T asks ICQS: so are you gonna listen only or listen and tick the things? are you gonna do it alone or in pairs? -T gives the ss the handouts. -T tells the ss to read the things before playing the audio you have 1 minute. -T monitors. - After listening T tells the ss the check their answers in pairs. - T checks the answers with the ss from a model answer.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-T tells the ss that they are going to listen again but with a different exercise. -T tells the ss to listen and number the instructions in the order you hear. -T tells the ss to do it alone. -T asks ICQs : Are you gonna listen only or listen and put them in the right order? Will you do it alone or in pairs? -T gives the ss the handouts. -T asks the ss to take a look first before listening and gives them 1 minute. -T plays the audio. -T monitors. - T asks the ss to check their answers in pairs. - T checks the answers with the whole class from a model answer on the screen. - T asks the ss if they have any problem or want to have any questions.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-T asks the ss to discuss some questions in groups. -T tells the ss about the communicative goal. -T divides the ss into groups and then gives them the handouts. -T monitors and takes notes of wrong and correct sentences. - T provides help if needed. -T gives the student content feedback. - T writes some sentences from the notes and discusses them with the ss.
