Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T starts by showing a picture from a movie on the screen -Questions will be asked to students to elicit the topic: *do you remember the movie ? *can you remember what did Mohamed Henedy ask him ? *how do you feel in new year's eve? -Then in pairs , students will discuss questions about new year celebrations and they are : * Is New Year's day a normal day or a special day which you celebrate ? * How do you celebrate new year's eve? Who do you spend it with? - conduct content feedback ( ask them about some of their answers)

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening audio and teach hard words

-T introduces the task ( we will listen to a recording about new year's celebrations in different countries) - before, let's have some words you'll listen to in the recording - T displays pictures on the screen and tries to elicit the words. - Explain the words using MPF: 1-boiling 2-bonfire 3-tinned vegetables

While-Reading/Listening (12-16 minutes) • To provide students with gist and detailed tasks

- T give Ss gist task (book page 36 ) - instructions: * T tells students they are going to listen to a recording of a boy from brazil and a girl from iceland talking about new year's celebrations at their countries * there are some sentences you'll listen to in the recording , listen and write which of them happens in brazil and iceland just write (B) for Brazil and (I) for Iceland * will you only listen ? or listen and write which sentence happens in brazil and iceland ? - give them 1 minute to read the sentences. - check with you partner - show them answer key - they will listen one more time and fill the table - make them read the table first and then play the recording again - check in pairs - ask them about their answers

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the audio and expand on what they've learned

- T gives Ss questions to discuss on the screen. - T divides them into groups of 3. - T sets the communicative goal - Set the time for 10 minutes. - ICQS -T monitors - Content and language feedback

Personal Aim

- take care of the black spots - Eye contact

Anticipated Problems

1- the screen may not work - I will have handouts and send the audio on whatsapp 2-some students may come late - I will tell them what we are doing fast and then micro-teach 3- they may not know some words in the gist and detailed task - I will prepare them ( with definition )
